Scope and content Correspondence consists of letters to Jenny Lind from other missionaries and copies of newsletters Lind sent to friends and family in America. Letters contain descriptions of the habits and customs of people she served in China, Japan, and Brazil; observations regarding Chinese political unrest, including the political affairs of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, and the frequent Japanese and Communist attacks of the 1930s. Other correspondence describes the Yangtze River flood and Chinese theater. Collection also includes brief descriptions of Liberia and India based on Lind's traveling accounts and compiled data on public schools and public health in Brazil.
